The Japanology Society student organization of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) will be holding a Japanese-inspired festival at their Social Garden venue on February 5, 2011, Friday. Dubbed as “SHUUREN”, the theme and aim of the festival is “Bridging the Gap Between Japanese & Filipino Cultures”.
In store for everyone are Japanese-inspired activities, such as the “Cosplay Clash” contest, “Ikebana” competition and Japanese flower arrangement exhibit. There’s also a drawing contest. And there will be booth exhibitors, including my very own Make Me Upâ„¢. ^_^
I was chosen to be a judge for the cosplay contest. If you wish to join, below are the complete registration details:
Registration Method
1. Please fill out the following:
• Full Name:
• Mobile Number:
• Email ad:
• Character Name and Series Name:
• Background Music (20 seconds long):
2. Send us your information to japsoc2004 (at) gmail (dot) com with the following attachments:
• Your Photo (does not have to be wearing the costume)
• Full-body photo of the character you are going to cosplay (this photo must be an authentic image of the character and not just a fan-art)
3. Then expect a confirmation message within two days after sending your message.
* Further instructions will be sent with the confirmation message.
** Walk-ins are allowed but they must provide their own background music and bring a printed picture of the character they are portraying. Again, the picture should be an original image of the character and not a fan art.
*** This Cosplay competition is an individual performance.
**** There is a registration fee of Php100, and this is already inclusive of the entrance fee.
To know more about the SHUUREN event, visit their fan page.
By the way, thank you to Gian Bacuyag for the photograph of me in the Cosplay Clash poster above.
Also, I won’t be wearing that pink Mari Illustrious Makinami in the event. I’ll be wearing a different costume ^_^
Will I see you there? I am so excited! ^_^
